Breeders Crown Open Mares Pace winner Twin B Joe Fresh p,4,1:47.3 ($2,267,265) became the 31st Breeders Crown Champion that was bred by Brittany Farms.
Brittany remains harness racing's second-leading breeder of Breeders Crown Champions behind only Hanover Shoe Farms, which has produced 33.
In taking her decisive victory on Oct. 26 at the Meadowlands (
Watch Race), Twin B Joe Fresh likely cemented her upcoming "Horse of the Year" title after leading the Hambletonian Society-Breeders Crown poll for most of the current racing season.
The daughter of Roll With Joe-Fresh Breeze (by Captaintreacherous) is owned by her trainer Chris Ryder along with driver Dexter Dunn and partners Peter Trebotica and Barry Spak. Brittany send it's heartiest congratulations to them all!
Twin B Joe Fresh has won 10 of 12 seasonal starts and earned $827,062 this year, making her the richest filly or mare pacer of 2024. She is also the co-fastest filly or mare pacer this year with a mark of 1:47.3 taken winning the Dorothy Haughton at the Meadowlands in mid-July.
In addition to the Breeders Crown and Haughton her other 2024 stakes wins include the Roses Are Red, Betsy Ross, Perfect Sting, Lady Liberty, Cleopatra, Milton and Dayton Distaff Derby. Those represent almost every major stakes race for older pacing mares.
Twin B Joe Fresh was bred by Brittany Farms and sold in utero when her dam, Fresh Breeze, was sold at the Harrisburg Mixed Sale to Twinbrook Limited. Twinbrook in turn sold Twin B Joe Fresh to Chris Ryder and partners at the 2021 Harrisburg Yearling Sale.
Although Brittany sold its final yearling consignment at the recently concluded Lexington Selected Sale, it's entirely likely that more Brittany-bred Breeders Crown Champions will appear in the coming years... from either the yearlings that were just sold or those young horses still climbing the ladder to stardom.
