Brittany Farms is proud to have been voted 2019 “Breeder of the Year” by members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association. In addition, the Brittany-bred matron Secret Magic, the dam of multiple World Champion Manchego, has been selected as “Broodmare of the Year.”
The farm will receive its award at
USHWA’s annual dinner gala on Sunday night, Feb. 23 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando.
Brittany wrapped up an amazing year with having bred no less than three Breeders Crown Champions: $600,000 2-Year-Old Filly Pace winner Reflect With Me, $500,000 Open Pace Winner American History, and $325,000 Filly & Mare Trot Winner Manchego.
All three were bred, raised and sold as yearlings by Brittany Farms at the Lexington Selected Sale.
In all, Brittany has now bred 25 winners of the sport’s year-end championships, making it the sport’s number one breeder in percentage of Crown champions from foals bred.
Brittany-breds earned more than
$12.7-million on the racetrack last season, and were led by the year’s richest Standardbred, Bettor’s Wish ($1,643,745), who was recently voted “3-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year.”
That high Brittany-bred earnings figure made the farm far and away 2019’s leading breeder in average earnings per starter. With $59,404 made per starter, Brittany is more than $17,000 ahead of its next-closest competitor!
A “Who’s Who” of the Brittany-bred stars of 2019 include Bettor’s Wish, Manchego, Six Pack, American History, Reflect With Me, Don’t Let’em, Gangster Hanover, Western Fame, Musical Rhythm, Special Honor and Gai Waterhouse, to mention but a few.
Sharing in our accolades are the owners and trainers who buy the farm’s yearlings and race those horses. Without them, it couldn’t be achieved!
