The dual eligibility that comes with the purchase of every Brittany Farms yearling enhances that horse’s value like never before.

 

All of Brittany’s yearlings to be sold at the Lexington Selected Sale, October 3-6, are dual eligible — meaning they’re eligible to the sire stakes program in the state or province in which their sire stands, and to the revitalized, multi-tiered Kentucky Sire Stakes. What that means is earning opportunity — doubled!

 

Never was that case proven any better than with the success of Brittany-bred 2 and 3-year-olds in Kentucky Sire Stakes Finals at the Red Mile this past week.

 

On Sunday, the Brittany-bred New Jersey and Kentucky-eligible Walner filly Special Way 2,1:52.2 ($325,975), the year’s richest and fastest freshman filly trotter, won the $400,000 KYSS Championship Final for 2-year-old filly trotters (see story).

 

On that same card, the Brittany-bred, raised and sold Pebble Beach p,2,1:48.4 ($1,057,650), an Ohio and Kentucky eligible, surpassed the million-dollar mark in career earnings with a second-place finish in the $400,000 KYSS 3-Year-Old Colt Pace.

 

On Monday at the Red Mile, even more success by dual-eligible Brittany breds was to follow.

 

Four Brittany-breds — two of them sold by Brittany as Lexington Selected yearlings — won $100,000 Finals of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series: (PA/KY) Hungry For Love p,2,1:50.4 ($145,000) won the 2YO Filly Pace; (NY/KY) Espresso 2,1:53.3 ($108,000) won the 2YO Colt Trot; (PA/KY) Yes Please 2,1:53.4 ($87,500) won the 2YO Filly Trot; and (PA/KY) Queen Of Success p,3,1:49.1 ($230,467) won the 3YO Filly Pace.
