The Brittany Farms
Hall Of Fame here on our website is proud to welcome its newest member, 2 and 3-year-old Dan Patch Champion and Breeders Crown Champion Perfect Sting p,2,1:49.2; 3,1:48.1 ($1,808,147).
Perfect Sting, bred by Brittany Farms and partner Val D'Or Farms and raised at Brittany, has now been introduced to his new career as a first-year stallion at
Deo Volente Farms in New Jersey... and his future as a stallion was Brittany’s game plan from the very beginning.
He’s the horse that was “bred to be a sire,” as the gorgeous dark bay is a son of World Champion parents: his sire is the co-fastest pacer in the history of the sport, Always B Miki p,1:46, while his dam is the fastest 3-year-old pacing filly ever, Shebestingin p,3,1:47 (by Bettor’s Delight).
Perfect Sting is both the fastest and richest son of Always B Miki and was also the richest Standardbred of the past racing season, regardless of age or gait, with 2020 earnings of $1,273,847. He is the 43rd million dollar-plus winner bred by Brittany Farms (see
Millionaires Row).
As you’ll see in his bio, he’s the only male pacer to have won the 2-year-old Breeders Crown while undefeated. And what’s more, he’s the only one in modern times to have won the Breeders Crown at both 2 and 3 and be voted Dan Patch champion both years. As great as they were on the racetrack, Somebeachsomewhere, his son Captaintreacherous and Tall Dark Stranger never accomplished that.
In two seasons of racing he boasts a gaudy resumé, as in 26 career starts he was 17-8-1 — never off the board — with a bankroll of $1,808,147.
Now, with a powerful breeding syndicate behind him and a bevy of beautiful, accomplished mares heading his way, his future in the breeding shed may even surpass his greatness on the racetrack.
