It was announced yesterday that Perfect Sting p,3,1:48.1 ($1,808,147) was named the recipient of harness racing’s highest divisional honor, as the U.S. Harness Writers voted him the Dan Patch Champion “3-Year-Old Male Pacer of the Year.” This follows his title as the Dan Patch-winning “2-Year-Old Male Pacer of the Year” in 2020.
What’s even more impressive? The fact that among the only male pacers to win Dan Patch honors at both 2 and 3 in the past 20 years — Somebeachsomewhere, Captaintreacherous, Tall Dark Stranger and Perfect Sting — Perfect Sting is the only one to also win the Breeders Crown both years!
Perfect Sting was bred and raised by Brittany Farms and is now a stallion whose career is overseen by Brittany Stallion Management.
Immediately following the announcement that he was going to stud at Deo Volente Farms in New Jersey, his syndicate was sold out and his initial book for 2022 became “full and closed.”
Perfect Sting, by the world’s co-fastest pacer Always B Miki (1:46) and from the world’s fastest 3-year-old filly pacer, Shebestingin (1:47), brings to his stud career an amazing combination of pedigree, striking good looks and championship racing performance at both 2 and 3.
He was the only undefeated 2-year-old male pacer in history to win the Breeders Crown. This year at 3 he was the sport’s overall richest performer with 2021 earnings of $1,273,847 and capped off his brilliant racing career with another Breeders Crown title.
