The extensive trophy collection owned by Brittany Farms will be moved from the farm and placed on permanent exhibit at the Stable of Memories, located in the iconic Round Barn at the Red Mile in Lexington, Ky.
With the farm closing at the end of this year, farm manager Art Zubrod said that he, his wife Leah and farm owner George Segal — all supporters of the Stable of Memories — are thrilled with the decision, and proud to be part of the museum's future.
The display will be set up in the coming weeks and the collection will be available for viewing well ahead of the Red Mile’s major stakes meet that starts Sept. 26.
The trophies reflect the farm’s 38-year journey toward becoming one of the most influential Standardbred breeders and owners in history.
Brittany has bred and/or owned the winners of virtually every major stakes race. Those are highlighted by three Hambletonian winners and five winners of the Hambletonian Oaks, along with winners of the Meadowlands Pace, North America Cup and Little Brown Jug.
The farm has produced 30 Breeders Crown champions and those trophies, along with prizes awarded to the farm’s 17 Hall of Fame horses, will be visible throughout the collection.
Kathy Parker, Stable of Memories board member, said the board is honored to showcase Brittany’s collection.
“Our museum recognizes the great breeding farms, horses, and racing in the Bluegrass, and the collection of trophies and memorabilia representing the achievements of Brittany Farms is a beautiful and significant addition,” Parker said. “We invite everyone to visit the Stable of Memories during The Red Mile’s major stakes meet this fall.”
